Core Range
Over the first couple of months after installation you will notice your decking go through a weathering process, like anything left outside, due to UV exposure and naturally occuring tannins in the wood part of the boards being exposed to UV where the colour will start to become slightly lighter (typically around 10-20% depending on exposure and time of year) including a slight reduction in the wood grain, this will normally be most noticeable during the first 2 months exposure to UV light. This process can happen quicker or slower again depending on time of year and the amount of UV exposure the boards get. E.g in Winter this may happen over 4-5 months in Summer 1-2 months.
Please do not worry as this is completely normal and will generally start to stabilise after this initial period. Over the coming years once the product has stablised you may see a much slower reduction in colour as it's exposed UV light but is in most cases unnoticeable to the eye.
We have a picture graph below to give an example and a general representation of colour changes after 2 months outside exposed to UV light. Please note we have tried to accurately capture the colours but different lighting, angles and cameras and of course actual UV exposure means this may not be exactly how all boards will look after 2 months and is only suitable for this example. Colour change will vary across colours and batches.

Ultimate Range
Our Ultimate Range composite decking is a second-generation product engineered for excellent UV resistance and long-term colour retention. As with all outdoor materials, a minor and gradual weathering process may occur after installation, most noticeably within the first 1–2 months of UV exposure. This initial settling period can occur more quickly in summer or more gradually in winter, depending on sunlight levels and orientation. Any early change is subtle, even on evenly exposed areas, and significantly reduced compared to first-generation composite decking.
Tested to BS EN ISO Grey Scale 4–5, the Ultimate Range delivers strong colour stability, with typically under 10–12% colour change over up to 15 years in UK conditions, making any variation barely perceptible to the eye once stabilised.
Colour may vary slightly by batch, exposure, and installation environment. Images shown are for guidance only.
